Hello World. Today my sweet, 17 year old cat, Berlioz passed away this morning at 9:12 while I held her. Right before she passed, she was purring and making "biscuits". Then she had one stretching seizure and was gone. This hit me harder than I expected. I spent from 5:15am until she passed at 9:12am holding her and loving on her. She was such a good kitty. Even last night during our dinner, she let us know that she needed to go to the litter box. For the past three days she couldn't support herself on her back legs. Greg picked her up and put her in the litter box so she could do her business. What a sweet kitty! Here she was winding down and soon to be passing away and she didn't want to tee tee on the floor. I will miss her so much! I'm so glad I was here to hold her and love on her as she passed away. So, with that said, I will be taking a blogging break just until Sunday. Have a wonderful rest of the week and weekend. I'll see you Sunday morning!
Goodbye, sweet girl! Have fun in heaven with your mom, Beatrice and most of all with Jesus! I love you!
Kathryn
So sorry Kathryn... it is heartbreaking when pets such as Berlioz pass away... rest assured in the thought that her suffering has ended and that she knew she was deeply loved... I think thats very important..wish I could give you a big hug dear
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry for your loss. From the photos I can tell she was a big sweetie, and this must be so painful for you. But I am sure she was happy that you were there during her last moments.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about your kitty, Kathryn. We were in and out of the vet with Oliver this week and I was worrying like crazy, though he's only been a part of our family for a short time. I can only imagine how hard it is when they've been a member of the family for so long. I agree with Vel...her suffering has ended and she left this world knowing she was loved.
ReplyDeleteSending you a virtual hug,
Nici
It can be so hard when your sweeties pass away, but don't forget how much she gave you and hold onto that! You were blessed. :o) Our prayers are with you.
ReplyDeleteKathryn, I am so sorry for your loss and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sherry
I am so so sorry, Kathryn. This hurts so much.
ReplyDeleteYour sweet kitty will be waiting for you on Rainbow Bridge!
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Oh...I'm so sorry to hear about you losing your sweet kitty. She was so pretty and I know how hard it must have been for your family. Our pets do become our family and I don't care what anybody says, I do think we will see animals in heaven. God made them so why wouldn't they be there?

I'm so sorry Kathryn. You make her sound like she was the sweetest cat. Take comfort in the thought that you were as Jesus hands, bringing her comfort and calming her spirit. Cherish the memories.

I am so sorry!!! Glad that you were able to be there with her and hold her. Lost my Bess when she was days away from being 17. I was holding her too and wouldn't have had it any other way. Sometimes I see her in my dreams and it is sweet, wishing you the same!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry! Our pets are our family. Those who don't have furry children don't really understand. I'm so glad you got to see her through till the end.

ReplyDeleteJenna
So sorry to learn of your sweet pet's passing. I understand completely. I know she is at Rainbow's Bridge. xo
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to read about your loss. I think it hits harder when you spend the last moments with them, but it's a beautiful thing to do. I did it for my childhood dog years ago and my mom never understood why it was so hard for me, I think it's because I was there at the second she passed away, but I'm glad she was with someone she knew rather than alone. I'll be thinking about you until I next read from you. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteSweet Kathryn - Big hugs and prayers to you and your family. I do know that my Hattie Cat welcomed Berlioz into Heaven and gave her the grand tour and introduced her to all of the cool cats and made sure she has a friend to eat her catnip lunch with. It's been close to 10 years since she passed but I still miss her and have such fond memories of her sprinting to the fridge to get shakey cheese and all 7 pounds of her hissing at a 100 lb dog (no fear) and helping me polish off a bag of Doritoes... and being my best friend when I needed one the most. It's ok to be sad. Big hugs, Holly @ coconutheadsurvivalguide
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your loss, Kathryn! My sister-in-law had to put her beloved dog down a couple of days ago cause he was very sick and beyond help. She's had her dog for almost 20 years, since 1993 when he was a pup. She is devastated. I read something very true once, 'If you love deeply - you mourn deeply'. My thoughts are with you and your family. Hugs from Australia♥ ~Pernilla
ReplyDeleteOh Kathryn, I'm so sorry. I've been where you are and it is painful to lose such an important member of your family. It was a blessing for you to hold her. And she is such a beauty, and looks as sweet as you describe. Blessings to you, my friend.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry, Kathryn! Think of the happy times when you had her. She is a beautiful cat.

Oh Kathryn, I´ve been through this a couple of times and know exactly how hard and painfurl is to say goodbye to these beloved and unconditional little friends! It was really sweet from you to keep on hugging and comforting her till she passed, despite of your own sorrow; I think it´s the least they deserve after giving so much love and joy to our lives... My thoughts and prayers are with you, take as much time as you need.
