Where I'm Headed

Hello World!  No, I'm not heading off on some exotic trip.  However, the trip I'm on is just as exciting.  I realized the other day that I have never shared the vision I have for my house.  So, today is the day I let you into my brain and heart.
Seasons for all the Home

I love the built in, the window seat and of course all the blue and white.

Our house is just shy of 2800 square feet with some really big rooms and some normal sized rooms.  Here are the stats:
Entryway
Formal Dining (I wish were bigger)
Formal Living which is currently being used as the Voice Studio
Kitchen (I wish were bigger)
Breakfast Area (I wish were bigger)
Family Room (I wish were bigger)
Master Bedroom and Bath - downstairs - (Could be smaller)
Guest Bedroom - downstairs, currently being used as my office - (Could be smaller)
Guest Bath - downstairs
Gameroom - upstairs
2 Guest Bedrooms - upstairs
Full Bath - upstairs

That's 4 bedrooms and 3 full baths.  And, not one room is completely decorated.  There are a lot of half decorated rooms.  Hence, the reason behind my focus on one room at a time.

In the past I was a gold, green, eggplant kind of girl in the color department.  Now, I'm switching to Blue, White, and Beige.  All because I love, love, love blue and white together.  So, here's my vision.  Mind you they are just inspiration pics and not a mood board.  I plan, but yet I hold loosely to the plan in case I see something that speaks to me.

What is there not to love in this room?  Utter perfection.
I love this couch.

This looks so cozy and inviting to me.

I find the mix in this room rather appealing.

Haven.

So there you have some of my ideas that are floating around in my head.  I will be pulling in some yellow and a touch of green, but the main focus is blue, white, and beige.

Check back in soon, I have another giveaway that you are not going to want to miss.  And, Make it Pretty Monday is kickin' it this week.  Click here to go straight to the party.  Have a pretty day and remember to be kind to one another!  Fear Not!

Toodles,
Kathryn

  2. They are all beautiful! I don't have any finished rooms in my house either yet I am constantly changing things. I have a lot of neutrals and tan, green and red in my downstairs and have been trying to find ways to lighten up. Great pics!

  4. Blue and white has been a favorite combo for me since my twenties. I remember I had two navy lamps with white shades. What happened to them I don't know. But wish I had them back.

  9. Hi Kathryn,
You are really making me a fan of blue and white. I consider myself not a blue person, but after looking at your home and your inspiration photos, now I'm not so sure! I love the clean, fresh look that a blue and white decor speaks. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your lovely transformations. I started a pinterest board for ideas for my family room, and someday it will spark a grand plan and all come together!

  10. Have you thought of adding the window seat flanked by built-ins to your office? This would give you extra storage, decor space while taking up space and adding a cozy nook as well. Just a thought. Have you read any of Lynette Jennings' books on decorating? She has a very interesting concept on how to build a color scheme for your home and how then to use them from room to room.

  11. I too love all the blues, whites and creams together..so calming. And I also share you sentiments with not having any room 100% done, the closest thing would be my little guys big boy room and even it still needs some more wall art. I think setting a goal of tackling one room at a time is the way to go. You're better than I am!

  12. Three cheers for blue and white! I totally get where you are coming from. I'm a red/green/gold kind of gal, but something flips in my heart when I see the blue and white together. (Like when I look at your toile blog background.) Maybe it's my Swedish roots, or maybe it's just that blue and white (and beige) go together like pie and ice cream. Good for you!

  20. How could a person be comfortable in some of these rooms? One looks like a museum of blue. :) I like the casual one the best with the cream colored couch. Have a great weekend. Linda

  21. I had to laugh when you made comments on your rooms , "could be bigger". We live in a little (a little over 1,000 sq. ft.) cottage. Every room in our house "could be bigger". To gain more space or at least more efficiency of space, we knocked out a wall. We use the garden as a room and actually have one room, the second bedroom that is barely used.

I love the blue and white check window seat cushion. I was thinking of a red and white check for ours that needs to be replaced, but that blue and white is so crisp.

I hope you get to "where you are headed".
