Dining Room Valance

Hello World!  It has been a whirlwind for the last week.  I must apologize for not posting anything sooner.  My Uncle passed away on February 1st and I drove my Mom (aka Betty Lou) along with The Dedicated Daughter to Springfield, Missouri for the funeral and then over to Harrison, Arkansas for the gravesite ceremony.  We stayed a couple of days after the funeral so my Mom could have some time with her other brother.

Prior to the trip up to the Ozarks I had finished a valance for the dining room.  This was my first time to sew anything following a pattern.  I usually just sort of whip things up.  Here is the pattern that I started with.

I followed the Scallop Pleat Valance pattern along with the help of my Mother.  And, no, it was not completed in two hours.

Here's the fabric I bought at JoAnn's for $8.50.  I bought all that was left on the bolt and it was on sale!  Yay!

May I introduce Violetta the Valance all complete.

Next up, I will sew panels, but I'm waiting for the fabric to go on sale.  So, in the meantime, I think I'll whip up a bunch of valances for the rest of my naked windows.

Thanks for popping in for a visit.  As always, have a grand evening and remember to be kind to one another.

Toodles,
Kathryn

  1. Love the color! It sort of has a look of violet but not quite. I dare say, I would not attempt to try this. I'm a self-taught sewer and not quite ready to try this! I'm afraid I would ruin the fabric. LOL

  3. Oh my gosh this turned out great. I love a good fabric sale. I recently got some gorgeous blue floral fabric, a linen/cotten blend, for $6.00 per yard at JoAnn. I just couldn't believe my luck. I have no idea where I'm going to use it but I'm sure I'll think of something! Happy Weekend...
