Ballard Designs Martin Console

Hello World!  Happy Friday!  Yesterday was such a grand day.  Had lunch with a dear friend and played with The Dedicated Daughter after I picked her up from Mother's Day Out.  As she was banging on the piano, I was looking at a few of my favorite blogs when the doorbell rang.  Who should be there, but the ever dependable UPS guy with a massive box.  I had to contain my excitement as he wheeled the box into my entryway.  For the next hour, I ripped into that box to discover the Martin Console by Ballard Designs in rubbed cream.  I had been looking for a piece that had some storage but was narrow in the depth.  I didn't want her robbing space from the pathway behind the gold chairs...which is where she will eventually sit.  Here is a sneak peek.

Here is what I'm working with.
See the cd holder behind the gold chairs?  Well, she will eventually land there.  So, she needed to be fairly narrow so as to not stick out into the pathway.  See the space to the left with the two pictures?  That's her temporary home.  So, without further ado, let me introduce "Martina".

A little Jim Shore decor.

Rubbed aged bronze hardware.  Very similar to the ones that will be used on the entertainment center...if I would just finish painting the sucker.

My pretty orchid just about to open up.

See how narrow she is?

 Nothing in the drawers yet...

Great storage underneath. Look at her chunky feet.

Little plates from Home Goods that I bought for $6.00.

When I was in London I bought some pencil drawings from an artist who had set up shop on a street corner.  I bought several drawings since they were reasonably priced.  The above is Westminster Abbey.

This one is Trafalgar Square.

A closeup of the little plates.  Aren't they adorable?

Isn't Martina just lovely?  I love Ballard Designs.  She's well made and very sturdy.  Just to let you know, I was not paid to toot her horn or Ballard Designs.  So, tell me what you think.  Off I go to empty the dishwasher.  I know, I know, it's such a glamorous life I lead.  Have a grand evening and remember to be kind to one another!

Toodles,
Kathryn

  31. What an absolutely lovely piece of furniture. I love that is has storage and is narrow ... splendid. I have a small house and it would be awesome on one of my walls too. I can imagine your operatic voice reaching to the ceilings of your home. And, I just adore the cornucopia by Jim Shore. I had seen some of his Christmas items one year and wanted some, now I can add that to my wants! Looks like you have a great family and home. Came by way of Time Travel Thursdays, glad I did. I now know who did those Christmas pieces and have looked up/bookmarked his website, too. Enjoyed my visit, thanks. Jenn
