Releasing the Bird

Hello World!  Happy Monday!  As you know, I've been hard at work in my voice studio.  In between taking care of the little one, and teaching, I try to squeeze in some work on little projects.  I finished one last night, but had to wait until the morning to take pictures.  The studio gets soft morning light which is quite helpful when a non-professional is trying to take photos.

A couple of weeks back before we went to the beach, I ran into Goodwill while I was out running errands.  I came away with this chest for $15.00 as well as the following birdcage for $7.99.  However, this is the after picture.

Here is what she looked like when I brought her home from Goodwill.

As you can tell, she had some damage and was a little on the dirty side.  Spent some time sanding her a bit, and fixing some spindles.  Not everything could be fixed.  I did discover it is a real birdcage with a drop door for the cleaning out of the essential bird duties.  Here she is with a couple of coats of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old  White.  I decided not to wax her.  I rather like her matte look.

What do you think?  She's a little rough, but she's pretty.  I have some more little lovelies to show you, but alas, need some time to get to them.  That's it for today!  Have a good Monday and remember to be kind to one another.

Toodles,
Kathryn
