Hello World! I love stripes! I love all kinds of stripes in all kinds of colors and sizes. To me, stripes are a wonderful foundation or background for whatever you might want to showcase. Or, they can be the star of the room.
When we moved back to Texas so I could be a stay-at-home mom (which is the hardest job, EVER), my colors were green, gold, and a deep, dark purple. Hence, the green leather couch that can be seen in a previous post. After having the Dedicated Daughter, my color palate started to change. I fell in love with blue and white which creates such a calm and cool feeling. However, in my family room, I have soaring ceilings and just didn't feel the blue and white could really work on the walls. I needed to anchor the room. That's when I discovered Shabby Chic by Benjamin Moore. Since my kitchen and breakfast room are open to the family room I would need to bring the beige into those rooms as well. Best way to do that is with stripes.
Here are some pictures of my kitchen in its bare glory.
Don't mind the people. Look at those bare walls and builder's grade oak cabinets. That's changing too. Okay, you can laugh at the funny face I'm making.
Now, here is a sneak peek of the paint job.
Eek, the drawer is gone. Don't stare into the black hole.
You get the idea. There will be more pictures to show at the end of the week when the kitchen cabinets will be finished. Gasp! You guessed it, I'm painting my cabinets. Pain in the you know where, but so far, they look so good! For the stripe paint job, I didn't tape. I wanted soft edges to my stripes. When the curtains go up in the breakfast room it will really make it look complete. Gotta have curtains on the windows and hardware on your cabinets to make a room look complete. And, yes, I'll be making the curtains as well. Better call the sweetest mom in the world to come over and help. Love you mom!!!!
Well, that's it for today. Stripes will be appearing in other rooms, so do not despair. You will know this tiger by her stripes. Funny, I very seldom wear stripes. Would rather see them in a room and not on me. Come back later this week for more fun. Enjoy your day and remember to be kind to one another.
Toodles,
