Hello World! It's been a year and a half since we moved into the Colonial and I have yet to show you the kitchen. Having an entire house to paint has taken all of my focus. So, now that the downstairs paint job is completed minus the half bath and the laundry room, and since the kitchen is clean, I thought I would share our kitchen with you.
The kitchen was newly renovated right before we moved in. Bonus for us indeed. See the drawers that face the breakfast table? This space is amazing. Usually it is wasted corner space, but the previous owner decided to have the space filled with four drawers which house my placemats and some table linens. The double doors that are just past the kitchen cabinets lead to my pantry which is bigger than in my previous home.
The kitchen is not huge, but it has a ton of prep space and generous storage. The under mount lighting adds a special touch. And, I love the way the new paint color looks against the dark cabinets. The paint color is Marina Gray by Benjamin Moore.
The silver tray usually holds papers pertaining to school and Little Dedicated's extracurricular activities. Today, a bowl of lemons along with some succulents.
My focus this year is to keep the daily mess to a minimum. To only touch something once and make a decision about its future in our home. So far so good! LOL. We are only 8 days into the New Year, but it's a start.
The door to the right of the pantry leads into my laundry room. I've got plans for that little room that I hope to get to this year. There is great storage on the stove wall as well.
This wall is situated between the dining room and the little hall that connects the foyer to the back of the house. The half bath is directly behind this wall as well as the stairs. This cabinet holds our daily dishes and silverware, and the ever important coffee/cappuccino machine and toaster.
I love my granite cheese board.
To the left of the sink is my pull out trash and recycle station, which I forgot to take a picture of to show you. It's so nice to do dishes while looking out at the pool. Such a pretty view.
A little porcelain tray holds my sponges, dish washing liquid (in the pretty glass jar), hand soap, and hand lotion tucked in the back.
This is one of my pull out tray cabinets that is situated to the right of my stove. I love these pull out trays! They make great use of the space and create much needed storage.
This one is located in the large prep area. There's little Cozi being nosey.
We purchased the refrigerator when we moved in. The middle drawer is for Little Dedicated and holds her favorite fruit, cheese, yogurt, juice, and water.
This little Blue and White planter I found at Goodwill; and the faux boxwood was purchased at Home Goods.
Well, that's it for the kitchen tour. I would love to hear your thoughts.

Very pretty and like the practicality of those 4 drawers. I'm thinking a woman must of thought of that idea. Not being sexist, just know men don't think in terms of setting the table, etc.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! You are right, a woman did think of the 4 drawers in place of the wasted corner space. It makes it so easy to set the table every night. Thanks for stopping by. Hope your weekend is going well. Toodles, Kathryn
DeleteYour kitchen reminds me a lot of my last one (new construction- I got to choose everything....) I miss it. Enjoy! (I'm going to steal the idea of putting a little tray out for the soap bottles. I don't know why I never thought of that!)

DeleteIt is so pretty, Kathryn. Those drawers are fabulous.
ReplyDeleteKathryn, your kitchen is beautiful! I love the dark wood cabinets against the paint and stainless steel. The plantation shutters are gorgeous and are my all time favorite window covering. It looks like you've thought of everything that makes the space so pretty but practical too. I'm glad to see your paper towels on the counter...I always wonder where people hide them because we have to have them right there to grab. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Stacey for stopping by and for your kind words. I'm with you on the paper towels. I have to have them on the counter. LOL! Hope you have a lovely weekend. Toodles, Kathryn @TheDedicatedHouse
DeleteYou have a lovely kitchen! The glass cabinets are my favourite feature.
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is gorgeous Kathryn and I'm so glad to see a wood cabinet style for a change and the lovely contrast against the color and the stainless. I love the glass cabinets and your kitchen is so practical without been a huge one and that I find to be the best way.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy it my friend.

Kathryn, your kitchen is highly functional AND pretty! We have dark cabinets too (and those pull out drawers, which I also love). Your paint color is striking against the wood and granite. And I bet that view is wonderful.
