A Box Sometimes is Not Just a Box

Hello World!  Today I have a quick little makeover that I worked on for our fireplace.  We love having a fire on a chilly night which means running out to the garage to grab some wood to add to the fire.  I've always wanted a big copper wood holder, however those are not in the budget right now.  But, I found something that will work in the meantime.

I stained a wood wine box and repurposed it to hold the logs.  This is one sturdy box and will work quite well for its new found purpose.

A blank canvas.

Sorry for not showing a wide shot, but I can't let you see the mantel just yet.  Patience grasshopper.  So, what have you got lying around that can serve another purpose?

Don't forget Make it Pretty Monday is still live as is Anything Blue Friday.  Both are brimming with Fall and Christmas inspiration.

Thanks for stopping in for a visit!  Have a great day and remember to be kind to one another.  Fear Not!

Toodles,
Kathryn

  1. I love the look of the box. I've been looking for something with low sides that would be good for the dog toys, and it would be perfect. Too bad I am totally not a DIYer other than cooking.

  2. So now I am looking forward to seeing the mantle piece. I love how you re-purposed the box. In my deep cleaning of my pantry I found several old wooden crates. I'm planning on painting them for cute storage.

  4. That box looks absolutely vintage after you stained it! I love wood boxes for lots of things. I am using an old pine wood plank I found in the garage as the base for a centerpiece that I can change out each season....looks great!

Your box looks darn good for it's new purpose and you can always use it for something else where you find your cooper wood holder in a thrift shop

    1. Hi Jenna! The box is a wine crate that I got from a friend! It has sat in my office for a year until it finally dawned on me that I could use this for a firewood holder! Toodles, Kathryn

    1. Hi Jodie! I got the box from a friend. Maybe check liquor stores to see if you can take some of their boxes and crates off of their hands. Thanks for taking a look. Toodles, Kathryn
