Hello World! No, I haven't skipped Fall, but I did do a little Christmas dreaming and playing around.
Hometalk and Lamps Plus are hosting a Holiday Design Contest and they have graciously asked me to participate. So I broke out some Christmas decor to create
Christmas at the Cabin in the Wintry Woods.
The lamp below is what I started with. This is a
Fillable Clear Glass Ovo Table Lamp from Lamps Plus.
Below is a wide shot of the little scene I created. The log cabin was made by my Great Grandmother and Uncle many, many years ago when my Uncle was a young boy. I thought it would be perfect to use for my Cabin in my Christmas scene.
For the lamp, I used some Christmas greenery as well as snow to make my Wintry Woods inside the lamp base. It was so easy to do. To fill the lamp, unscrew the wing nut on the bottom and fill it with your pretties. I wanted the effect of having it look like it was snowing. So, after filling it with the greenery and snow and attaching the base, I turned it upside down to shake the snow. You know, like a snow globe. Here are some close-ups of the lamp.
To decorate the lampshade I used one burlap ribbon, simply tied around the shade. I didn't use any glue or pins to attach the ribbon. On top of the burlap ribbon, I tied another strip of ribbon and gathered it all up in the front. Then I slipped in a burlap like poinsettia securing it within the knot I made with the burlap ribbon.
Below is a closeup of the pinecone ribbon.
The log cabin with a smattering of pinecones and a wooden evergreen.
Lanterns to light the way for a trip through the wintry woods to the cabin for a scrumptious dinner on pretty Christmas plates to warm your soul.
These are the lanterns my sister gave me for Christmas last year. We all know how much I love lanterns. You can check out my lantern board over on Hometalk.
I just love how the light shines through this fabulous lamp.
My pretty peace angel I picked up at the grocery store last year. You never know where you'll find some pretty decor.
More pinecones surround the angel and fun little snowman. A wintry wood would not be complete without a snowman.
Next up is a cute, red birdhouse all decked out with Christmas greenery and snow.
Another little lantern to light the way. Of course, the scene has the watchful eye of our dear Santa.
And, just for fun, a pretty little Noel pillow.
Thanks to Hometalk and Lamps Plus for giving me this opportunity to participate in this wonderful Holiday Design Challenge. I really love this lamp and how easy it is to change out a look.
