Hello World! Clothes, clothes, clothes...I love pretty dresses, smart outfits, accessories, and of course shoes. Now, my love for clothes does not go as deep as my Mom's. She lurves clothes! One of her favorite past times is to go shopping and she can whip up something quite nice on the sewing machine. She has made many a dress for me, especially in my singing days when I was doing a lot of recital performing. I know what it takes to make something beautiful and have it look impeccable from watching my Mom work her wonders. So, this next Before and After is for all of those lovelies who find it relaxing to sit down in front of the sewing machine and for all of us who might not sew, but love to shop for well made clothes. Ready for a lookie?
Some black and white cuteness with a dash of Spring.
Today's Before and After comes from Karen over at
Let's see what she was working with.
She picked up the dress for a mere $10.00 and got to work refashioning her. She made a new collar, new sleeve ends, added a pocket, shortened the length, added some bias, and coordinated it with a belt she picked up for $1.00.
Here's a close-up of the new material she added to make her collar, sleeve ends, and pocket.
I love it with her pretty Spring shoes.
Zip on over to Made With My Two Hands to see more pictures of the process. Thanks Karen for sharing your pretty dress with us.
If you have any before and after projects that you would love to get featured, email them to thededicatedhouse@gmail.com and in the subject line, please put Before and After Wednesday. It can be any before and after: gardening, furniture redo, room makeover, complete renovation, sewing repurpose. Anything with a before and after.

Love the collar! Much more flattering than the original. The whole refashion is great. I love when you can pick something like this up and remake it to your liking.
