Home and Property - Safe and Secure

Hello World!  Tonight's post has some good information to keep our homes and families safe.

It's a story we hear all too often these days. Someone loses their job or can't get hired after graduating college. Their income level changes, and they need to start cutting back. Unfortunately, one of the first things to go sometimes are security options. This could mean a higher break-in risk and loss of valuable items or even a risk of physical danger. If this sounds like you, don't worry. There are still plenty of ways to keep your home secure without breaking the bank doing it. Take a deep breath and read on to discover how you can protect your family on a budget.

1. Reevaluate Alarm Monitoring

You may be able to save on alarm Monitoring by calling around and seeing if you can get a discount. This is one of the most reliable ways to protect yourself, your family and your possessions. Don't let it go without seeing if you can bring it down to a more affordable price.

2. Magnetic Door Alarms

These small alarms are generally inexpensive and are easily installed. They are excellent for scaring off would-be intruders and alerting you that someone unauthorized has entered. Buy enough to install them on all your doors and windows that can be opened from the outside, and you'll have a DIY alarm kit that might just do the trick.

3. Improve Door Locks

The average burglar looks for homes that are poorly protected, so just installing a dead bolt and a reinforcement plate on your doors can do a lot to deter an intruder. The moment they find your door isn't easy to open, they'll move on to the next house.

4. Get a Dog

You don't need a big, tough doberman to scare away unwanted visitors. Even a small dog that barks can be good for this. Burglars want to be undetected. If a dog hears or sees them and starts barking, criminals often take off, since they know it will wake everyone in the house. If you can't afford the expenses of a full-time dog, offer your dog-sitting services for local people going on vacation. Not only will you make a little extra money, you'll always have someone around to scare off intruders.

Thank you for popping in for a visit.  Have a restful evening and remember to be kind to one another!  Joy to the Full!

  1. Yep, my dog is great for security around the Howard property. He barks so loud that I have had people who knocked on my door turn around and go back to their cars till I stopped them. Let me recommend Rhodesian Ridgebacks are great for security, friends, and they are so eager to please which makes them super easy to train.
