Hello World! The first Before & After project at the new house just kinda happened. Last Saturday, while the movers were here and the AT&T guy was getting us hooked up, Mr. Dedicated saw a tree trimming crew that was working on one of my neighbor's trees. Well, Mr. Dedicated decided to inquire how much it would be to remove two trees from our property and trim several trees. We hadn't planned on having this done for about a couple of months, but they gave us such a great quote, we couldn't pass it up. Okay, so here are the two before pictures.
See the two magnolias that flank the house? Well, these trees are way too close to the house. In fact, the branches are hitting the windows on the second floor.
Now, the after.
No more Magnolia trees. I love Magnolias, however they were way too close to the house and hitting the upstairs windows. Now you can see the whole house.
We also had the pines trimmed as well. Before, the side of the house with the fireplace was completely blocked off from view. Pardon the pile of garden bags. Mr. Dedicated cleaned out the gutters today.
The next picture is the brush that was behind the pool waterfall. Let me tell you, it was like a jungle back there.
Next up are the pictures I took after Mr. Dedicated trimmed this section.
We still have some work to do, but it looks so much better. Look at the palm back there! We didn't even know there was one back there until we starting trimming the jungle back.
Now we can see the tree trunk.
Ms. Crape Myrtle got a trim from the tree crew as well. It was hitting Little Dedicated's bedroom window. Isn't it pretty? All in bloom.
I think she looks so much better without the trees crowding her.

What a dramatic difference with the trees gone! Pretty before, but much nicer being able to see the whole house now. Your pool area is lovely!

ReplyDeleteI always cringe - sometimes even cry- when people have perfectly healthy trees cut, but it does look great.
I can't even believe your pool area, WOW! Now that to me is how the original landscaper probably had visioned...not the jungle it became from neglect and overgrowth.

Trimming the trees make such a difference! I just trimmed mine a few weeks ago and couldn't believe how much light now comes thru to my yard! Good decision on your part.....I agree that the trees were overgrown.

I was so sad that we had to remove 2 holly trees that were in danger of damaging the foundation, but it had to be done, and I like it better now. You have a beautiful home!! ReplyDeleteYour new house is so pretty. I love magnolia's too, so must have been hard to cut those babies down, but definitely not good having them on top of the house like that, and your house does look so much prettier without them.
Your pool area looks great and love crape myrtles as well, especially when they are in full bloom like that, just
gorgeous. Amazing what a some pruning does to bushes............and to us as well, since God's the master gardener! Your yard look lovely and your hubby and his tree trimming friends did a great job.
Can't wait to see your finished bedroom. I don't mind painting but I really hate the prep work!! Ughhhh lol
Your bedroom is coming along nicely, and I am with you on that primer, so true, and especially if you are
painting over walls that previously had wallpaper..........
