The New House - Colonial

Hello World!  Since my schedule is about to really get super busy painting in the new house next week, I thought should show you some interior shots of our new Colonial.

The house is a Colonial which has about 2508 square feet, not including the garage.  Also, the attic runs the length of the house with built-in storage; perfect for Christmas decorations.

The house is situated on a corner and is part of a quiet and quaint cul-de-sac.  Above is a shot of the driveway with the garage in the back.

This is the entryway with the stairs and dining room to the right looking in from the front door.  The formal living room is to the left.  Straight ahead as you come in the door is a hallway that leads to the back of the house.  Along this hallway is the half bathroom and coat closet.

The dining room is huge; much bigger than my previous house.  Real hardwood floors, molding, and plantation shutters.

The door to the right heads to the kitchen.  Entryway, stairs, and formal living room are in the background of the picture.

This is the formal living room to the left of the front door.  Again, real hardwood floors, molding, and plantation shutters.

The other side of the formal living room looking back into the entryway.  This room is quite large.  We will be using this room as our family room because of its size.

This room is behind the formal living room.  The former owners used this as their family room.  But, as you can see, they had issues with where to put the tv.  And, they blocked off the French doors that lead to the pool.

I will be using this room as a hearth room.  No tv in this room.  This will be a place for conversation by the fire.

This is looking back towards the other direction.  I will put the piano on the wall where the mirror is.  Again, real hardwood floors in the hearth room.  You can see the breakfast room and kitchen in the background.

The breakfast room with updated cabinetry, flooring and plantation shutters.

The previous owners completely remodeled the kitchen.  The cabinets are soft closing and gorgeous.  The double doors in the back are to the pantry.  Thank goodness, it's bigger than the pantry in my previous house.

Updated with granite and stainless steel appliances.

Plantation shutters again in the kitchen.

This is looking into the dining room.  As you can see there is plenty of storage and counter space in this kitchen.

I wouldn't change a thing in this kitchen.  I really like the granite, backsplash and tile flooring they chose.

The upgraded granite continues into the hallway half bathroom.

Next week, I'll share the upstairs and the backyard.

So, what do you think?  We are so excited.  I've been pouring over paint swatches so I can be ready to hit the ground running and get everything painted before we move in on the 28th.

  10. Kathyrn, this is such a lovely and stately colonial home. And may I say that you have a fortune in plantation shudders. We invested in them when we moved into our Garden Home a few years ago and it was worth it not only in the uniform appearance and beauty they provide, but in the economics of heating and cooling a home in the south. I can't wait to see the transformation you will perform in making this lovely space your own.

  12. Really nice, Kathryn! I love all the rooms you've shown. The kitchen, especially, looks like a great space. Love the idea of the hearth room. I think that could be a really cozy area with the fireplace and a couple of comfy chairs.
